Description :
The Zeller parish church is certainly one of the most venerable houses of worship in Pinzgau. She is one of the three-aisled basilica with High and Late Romanticism (12th and 13th century) with later Gothic changes and additions, such as the massive west tower of the 15th Century. Neo-Gothic style (1898-1904) are high altar, side altar and the three windows in the apse. In the late Gothic choir is the great organ (1981), which also as part of regular organ concerts by renowned organist is often recorded. The neo-Gothic high altar from 1904 shows on the reliefs of Joseph Bachlechner the Last Supper and the sending of the disciples. Also impressive are the precious marble tombstones Gothic, Renaissance and Baroque, the provosts of episcopal, priest, high Officials viewed and remind citizens of Zell. In the course of restoration (1972/75), numerous frescoes (14th to early 17th century) were uncovered and secured. The most beautiful frescos are right and left of the altar. They show the risen Jesus between John the Evangelist and John the Baptist.
The tower dominates the old image of Zell am See. The strong walls are clad with blocks of conglomerate, divided into five floors, which by Gothic friezes are marked. The friezes are the higher, the better. The tower is 36 meters high and bears a gable roof with stepped gables.
Right next to the parish church you will find the cemetery chapel or soul chapel which was built in 1774 in which the image of the Madonna forms the centre. In a beautifully decorated glassy case there sits the splendidly clad Mary with the child. This Virgin and Child is called "Mrs. October" in Zell am See because it is during the month October in the parish church.

Already in earlier centuries preceding chapels will have been there on the same place as the today's church. In 1955 the church was rebuilt and expanded, a new Gallery and a new tower was built, and the capacity was doubled. The last renovation was in 1995. The Church contains three Baroque altars, which arose around 1680. The altar shows the Holy Sigismund. Beautiful side altars, a Lady of the Rosary and a corn-dress Madonna are also visible. In the gallery there is a wooden panel with pictures of the seven sacraments.
